This year, Teacher Karis celebrates a decade of teaching at the university level, marking ten years of impactful instruction. Demonstrating a commitment to world-class instruction, Teacher Karis holds the Microsoft Certified Educator (MCE) credential and has completed specialized training in "Digital Facilitation in Synchronous Events," ensuring a professional and engaging virtual classroom experience. His extensive training record includes successfully guiding over 15 cohorts of HCIA-Datacom and 2 cohorts of HCIP-Datacom, alongside his impactful training work for the Internet Society and KICTANET.
Kariuki is an accomplished educator and technology professional with over 10 years of experience in software engineering training and e-learning coordination. Currently serving as an Assistant Lecturer and E-learning Coordinator at Multimedia University of Kenya, Kariuki has cultivated a strong foundation in academic leadership, curriculum development, and digital transformation in education.
A Microsoft Certified Educator and Huawei ICT Manager, Kariuki has a proven track record of impactful training and capacity building. Under his leadership, the Multimedia University Huawei ICT Academy was recognized as the best academy in 2019 for training the highest number of students on Huawei Professional Certifications. He has also collaborated with global tech giants such as Huawei, Google, Microsoft, IBM, Oracle, and others to bring over 100 industry events, trainings, and bootcamps to students as the patron of the CIT Club, a student-led tech community.
Since 2015, Kariuki has worked with KENET as a trainer and a Research Assistant on their e-readiness project, contributing to the advancement of ICT infrastructure and digital readiness in higher education institutions across Kenya.
Beyond academia, Kariuki has been instrumental in advancing digital skills on a national and international scale. He has worked with KICTANet for more than seven years, organizing and executing flagship initiatives like the Kenya School of Internet Governance. Between 2024 and 2025, he served as the e-learning support engineer and trainer for KICTANet, delivering digital literacy programs to over 10,000 Community Digital Champions as part of the UK Government’s Digital Access Programme.
As a lead trainer for the Internet Society, Kariuki specializes in Designing and Deploying Computer Networks, Building Wireless Community Networks and Community Networks Readiness Assessment. He also holds multiple industry certifications, including Huawei Certified ICT Associate (Datacom), Huawei Certified ICT Professional (Datacom), Huawei Certified Academy Instructor, and Microsoft Certified Educator, CIPIT Data Protection Certificate to mention but a few.
With a rich blend of academic expertise, industry engagement, and project management experience, Kariuki is passionate about fostering innovation and driving digital transformation through training and consultancy.
